Your Fertility Journey

The Infertility Journey

Steps toward the family of your dreams.

Step One: Realizing there is a problem

The journey of infertility begins with the sometimes challenging realization that attempts at natural conception have not been successful. This can be a painful fact to digest for many couples, who have begun the process of trying to conceive with great optimism to create a family together.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, almost 11% of reproductive-aged women experience challenges achieving a pregnancy and/or carrying a baby to term. The creation of a child, of course, is the ultimate expression of love and affection that couples have for each other. Many couples feel a sense of disbelief and shock that the process is not working. For women who have practiced contraception for many years, it is almost inconceivable for them that they do not achieve conception after the first few months of attempts. Some couples have had a first child and are shocked when the second attempt at conceiving does not work. Individuals, couples, and same-sex couples experiencing infertility can experience a “rollercoaster” of emotions during the process.

The good news is that fertility treatments are extremely effective, and the vast majority of individuals and couples achieve success with treatment. There are many paths to parenthood, and the Reproductive Endocrinologist can help facilitate the treatment that is right for you.

Over the past several years, it has been our pleasure to assist thousands of couples to achieve their dreams of building a family. When you are ready to take the initial step, we’re here and ready to help. We look forward to meeting you to discuss your fertility concerns and create a personalized plan to help you with your journey through fertility treatment

Step Two: The Consultation

Now that you realize that you may have a problem conceiving naturally, you are already past the first step towards building the family you want.

The next step is to schedule a consultation with a qualified fertility specialist. A Reproductive Endocrinologist is usually your best choice because they have a deep knowledge of the human reproductive system and the ability to diagnose conditions that prevent that system from working naturally.

An initial consultation at Hudson Valley Fertility includes a through review of your existing medical records, prescription of required fertility tests, and the development of a personalized treatment protocol designed to address your specific reproductive conditions.

Step Three: Treatment

Now that you and your physician have created a plan, you are ready to begin treatment. Typically you will go through a complete cycle of treatment including monitoring, medication and medical procedure.

For simpler treatments like IUI, the cycle can last less than a week. For more advanced treatments like IVF, the cycle can last several weeks to include time for things like genetic testing.

Step Four: Outcome

Though the journey can be difficult, the final ability to hold a newborn child in your arms makes it all worthwhile. For us at Hudson Valley Fertility, helping you to build your family is also our goal. We all share in your joy when you achieve your dream of having a family.

If you are ready to take the next step in building the family of your dreams, please schedule a consultation. We look forward to meeting with you.
